Sometimes referred to as Soda Ash .  It is often used along with Sodium silicate to produce slips that do not gel too quickly and stay wet longer.  Sodium carbonate is the preferred deflocculant for thinning glaze slurries. Ideal flux for Egyptian paste glazes.
